Choose the right technology

An inverter should fit the whole energy plan—not just the panels.

Your inverter affects generation, monitoring, battery compatibility and how easily the system can grow. We explain the choices clearly and specify equipment to suit the roof, property and household.

01 · Straightforward solar

String inverters

A proven central solution for well-oriented roofs with consistent sunlight. A strong choice when simplicity, value and efficient conversion are the priorities.

Discuss a new system
02 · Solar plus storage

Hybrid inverters

Manage solar generation and a compatible home battery from one platform. Ideal for many new systems and planned battery upgrades.

03 · Complex roof layouts

Module-level control

Microinverters or panel optimisers can help where roof faces, shading or panel-level monitoring make a conventional layout less suitable.

The important questions

What should you compare?

The best-known brand is not automatically the best fit. Good design starts with the electrical and practical details.

Power & sizingMatched to the solar array, expected generation and site limits.
MPPT inputsAppropriate tracking for different roof orientations and panel strings.
Battery optionsCompatibility today, plus a sensible route for future storage.
MonitoringA clear app or portal to make performance easier to understand.
Warranty & supportManufacturer terms, parts availability and dependable aftercare.
Repairs & replacement

Fault light, lost generation or an ageing inverter?

An inverter problem does not always mean the whole solar system needs replacing. We can assess the fault, test the system and explain whether repair, manufacturer support or a correctly specified replacement is the sensible route.

App or portal is offlineA communications fault may not mean that generation has stopped.
Existing inverter needs replacingThe replacement must suit the array, grid connection and any battery plans.

Compatible technology, properly integrated.

We work across established solar and storage platforms and select equipment around the application—not a one-size-fits-all package. Ask us about compatibility with systems including Sunsynk, SolaX, Solis, Fox ESS and GivEnergy.

Inverter questions

Useful answers before you choose.

What does a solar inverter do?

Solar panels produce direct current electricity. The inverter converts it into alternating current for use in the property and manages key safety, monitoring and grid functions.

Do I need a hybrid inverter for a battery?

Not always. Some batteries are AC-coupled and can be retrofitted alongside an existing solar inverter. A hybrid inverter can be a neat option for a new solar-and-battery design. The right arrangement depends on the existing system and your goals.

Can an old inverter be replaced without changing the panels?

Often, yes. The array voltage, current, string layout, isolation, grid requirements and system condition must be checked before selecting a suitable replacement.

Why is my monitoring app showing no data?

It may be a Wi-Fi, communications or account issue rather than a generation fault. Check the inverter display for warnings and use the form below to tell us the make, model and any code shown.
