Sunsynk ACure Hybrid Inverter & Battery Storage

Next-generation Sunsynk energy control

Sunsynk ACure hybrid inverter and battery storage

The ACure single-phase hybrid inverter combines solar generation, battery charging, grid control and backup-load capability in one intelligent platform. It can be designed for a new solar installation or configured in AC-couple mode alongside suitable existing generation.

One platform, several applications

Where ACure fits

New solar and battery system

Connect solar panels directly to the ACure MPPT inputs and combine generation, storage and energy management in one hybrid design.

Existing solar retrofit

AC-couple mode can allow suitable existing PV generation to remain in service while ACure manages battery storage. The exact metering, inverter compatibility and FIT arrangement must be assessed.

Backup and resilience

A correctly designed backup-load circuit can supply selected essential loads during a grid outage. Whole-home backup is not automatic and depends on the model, wiring, passthrough limits and expected loads.

Time-of-use tariffs

Six programmable charging and discharging periods allow the system to use off-peak electricity and manage stored energy around household demand.

Generator integration

A dedicated generator input and programmable controls support properly engineered generator applications, including remote and resilience-led projects.

Smart and auxiliary loads

The programmable load connection can be used for approved load-management strategies based on battery state and system configuration.

Manufacturer figures from the supplied Sunsynk ACure C2 manual, version 9 dated 28 August 2025. W/B model suffixes denote product variants. Final UK design remains subject to battery limits, DNO approval and the latest manufacturer documentation.

Core specification

Designed for flexible solar and battery systems

  • 40-60V lead-acid or compatible lithium-ion battery input
  • Two MPPT trackers for direct solar connection
  • 500V maximum PV input voltage and 150-425V MPPT range
  • Up to twice rated power for 10 seconds in off-grid operation
  • Six configurable battery charge/discharge periods
  • Grid, generator, load and programmable auxiliary connections
  • RS485, RS232 and CAN communications
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional monitoring connections, model dependent
  • IP65 enclosure and integrated Type II AC/DC surge protection
  • Up to 16 compatible inverters in parallel, subject to engineered design

Warranty

Sunsynk states a five-year inverter warranty, extended to ten years when installed with a Sunsynk battery, subject to registration and the current manufacturer warranty terms.

Grid compliance

The manual lists G98/G99 compliance. The model and proposed export capacity still require the correct DNO notification or application before commissioning.

ACure versus a dedicated AC-coupled unit

Understanding the difference

ACure hybrid inverterDedicated AC-coupled battery inverter
Can accept direct DC solar through two MPPTs.Normally has no direct solar-panel input.
Can form the main inverter for a new solar-and-battery installation.Usually added alongside an existing solar inverter.
Includes an AC-couple operating mode for suitable retrofit designs.Designed primarily for retrofit battery storage.
Provides grid, load, generator and programmable auxiliary connections.Connections and backup options depend on the dedicated product.
Important: Calling ACure “AC-coupled” describes one possible operating mode, not the complete product. It is a multifunction hybrid inverter. Mr Solar selects the system architecture after inspecting the existing PV, metering, battery requirements and consumer-unit arrangement.

Existing FIT solar

Can ACure be added without replacing the existing solar inverter?

Retain suitable equipment

Where technically appropriate, the existing PV inverter and generation meter can remain while ACure is introduced as part of the battery-storage design.

Protect FIT metering

The CTs, meters and connection points must be designed so battery charging and discharge are not incorrectly recorded as eligible solar generation.

Complete the paperwork

Mr Solar can review the legacy documentation, prepare the electrical design and complete the relevant DNO process. Your FIT licensee may request its own battery declaration.

System design matters

What Mr Solar checks before recommending ACure

Household demand

Annual usage, peak loads, EV charging, heat pumps, hot tubs and future electrification.

Battery capacity

Usable storage, charge/discharge limits, battery BMS communication and expected overnight demand.

Existing solar

Inverter type, PV array size, FIT status, generation meter and whether direct DC or AC-coupled architecture is preferable.

Backup circuits

Essential-load selection, startup currents, consumer-unit work, earthing arrangements and safe changeover behaviour.

DNO limits

Existing permissions, proposed inverter capacity, export limitation and whether G98 or G99 applies.

Installation location

Ventilation, access, cable routes, clearances, environmental conditions and suitable mounting structure.
