Solar panels are electrical equipment installed in exposed locations. Do not climb onto a roof or improvise access. If panels cannot be reached safely from ground level or an appropriate working platform, arrange professional cleaning.

Use the least aggressive method that works.
- Choose cool, overcast conditions or a suitable time of day
- Remove loose leaves or debris gently
- Rinse lightly to lift dust and reduce scratching
- Use the soft brush evenly without excessive force
- Rinse away loosened dirt and cleaning residue
- Allow to dry or use a suitable non-abrasive drying head
- Inspect visually from a safe position afterwards
Cleaning frequency depends on the site. Bird activity, nearby trees, agricultural dust, roof pitch and local weather can all make a difference.
When cleaning may help
Visible bird deposits, heavy dust, leaves caught at the lower edge, lichen or a clearly soiled section can justify inspection and appropriate cleaning.
When to investigate more deeply
If generation has dropped but the panels do not look heavily soiled, the cause may be electrical, monitoring-related, shading or equipment failure. Cleaning is not a substitute for fault diagnosis.
