What Does a Proper Solar Installation Cost?
The honest answer depends on the roof, electrical work, panel count, inverter, battery and access. A survey-based specification is more useful than an attention-grabbing package price.
A solar quotation should describe the complete installation.
Two systems with the same peak kilowatt rating can differ substantially in roof work, inverter capability, monitoring, warranties and aftercare. Mr Solar prices after understanding the property rather than promising one figure for every roof.
Panels & mounting
Panel model, output, roof hooks, rails, clamps, cable routes and weatherproof workmanship all affect the finished system.
Inverter & controls
String, hybrid or optimised designs have different capabilities, current limits and routes for adding a battery.
Access & roof complexity
Scaffolding, roof height, tile or slate type, multiple roof faces and difficult access influence labour and access costs.
Electrical & compliance
Consumer-unit condition, protection, isolation, earthing, DNO work, testing, MCS documentation and commissioning must be allowed for.
Compare specification with specification.
- Exact panel make, model, wattage and quantity
- Exact inverter model and AC power
- Battery usable capacity and continuous output
- Scaffold and roof-access allowance
- Electrical remedial work and surge protection
- Monitoring, certification and DNO process
- Product, workmanship and insurance-backed warranty details

Installed-cost FAQ
Why not publish one fixed price?
Roof access, panel count, cable routes, electrical condition and battery requirements differ. A fixed headline commonly excludes work that becomes essential after survey.
Does a battery always improve payback?
Not automatically. It depends on surplus solar, evening demand, cheap-rate charging, battery losses, usable capacity and the tariff.
What should be included at handover?
The applicable electrical certification, MCS documentation, DNO paperwork, monitoring setup, equipment information and warranties should be explained.
Start with a proper solar assessment.
Tell Mr Solar about your property, electricity use and future plans. We will recommend a system around the building and the way you actually use energy.
