What we fix
- Inverter faults (error codes, no output, tripping)
- Low/zero generation (string issues, isolators, MC4/connectors)
- Battery problems (not charging/discharging, app offline)
- Monitoring & apps (Wi‑Fi changes, CT clamp direction, portal access)
- DC/AC cabling (damage, overheating, loose terminations)
- Roof issues (loose clamps/rails, water ingress around penetrations)
- Bird damage / pigeon guards (supply & fit mesh skirts)
- Shading & design issues (add optimisers, re‑string, add MPPT)
- Component replacement (inverters, isolators, meters, DC breakers)
Safety first: Do not open DC plugs, enclosures, or go on the roof. PV generates whenever it’s bright.
What’s included in a diagnostic visit
- Safety checks: isolators, DC voltage, AC protection, earthing.
- Electrical tests: string open‑circuit voltage (Voc), current (Isc) where safe; insulation resistance as appropriate.
- Inverter review: event log, settings (grid profile, export limit), firmware.
- Battery review: BMS status, charge/discharge schedule, comms.
- Monitoring: reconnect to Wi‑Fi, correct CT clamp orientation, restore data feed.
- Report & quote: clear findings, photos, and a fixed quote for any parts/labour recommended.
- Paperwork: commissioning sheet; MCS update if components are replaced like‑for‑like; DNO notification where required.
(Ask us for our current fixed diagnostic fee.)
Common symptoms → likely causes
- Inverter screen blank → No AC supply / tripped breaker / failed inverter PSU.
- Error: “Grid voltage high/unstable” → Local grid over‑voltage; check settings/export limit; liaise with DNO if persistent.
- Solar app shows 0 W but it’s sunny → Tripped DC isolator, failed string, damaged connector, blown fuse, or inverter fault.
- Battery never reaches full → Settings (charge window/SoC limit), worn battery module, CT mis‑direction, comms drop.
- RCD/MCB trips when PV starts → Leakage/insulation issue, nuisance RCD type, water ingress.
- No internet data → Router/Wi‑Fi changed; needs re‑pairing to the new network.
Safe checks you can do (no tools)
- Check AC power to the inverter (consumer unit breaker/RCBO on).
- Note any error codes/messages on the inverter/app.
- Don’t touch DC — leave DC isolators/connectors alone.
- If you recently changed Wi‑Fi, have the new SSID/password handy.
- Take photos: inverter label, error screen, roof array (from ground).
- If you added new loads (EV, heat pump), mention this when booking.
Our repair process
- Book — share name, email, postcode, phone, brief symptoms, photos if possible.
- On‑site diagnostics — 45–90 minutes typical.

FAQs
Do you repair systems installed by others?
Yes. We work on most brands and will advise if parts are obsolete and need replacing.
Will repairs affect my SEG/export?
Like‑for‑like replacements typically don’t. Upgrading an inverter/export limit may require DNO approval; we’ll advise.
Do I need scaffolding?
Only if we must access the roof (module, cable, or roof fix). Many inverter/battery faults can be fixed without scaffolding.
Can you add a battery during a repair visit?
We can survey for a retrofit battery or hybrid inverter upgrade and provide a quote.
How quickly can you attend?
We prioritise safety faults and systems not generating; typical attendance within a few working days.
Do you offer emergency call‑outs?
If you suspect danger (burning smell, heat, water ingress), isolate at the consumer unit and call us. We’ll advise the next available slot.
What information helps you fix it faster?
Inverter make/model, error code, install year, any changes in the home (new router/EV/heat pump), and clear photos.
