Understand the funding before you make plans.
ECO4 can support qualifying households with energy-efficiency improvements. The scheme has been extended to 31 December 2026, but funding and measures are not automatic: eligibility, property assessment, supplier or funder approval and remaining availability all matter.

ECO4 is open—but now close to its final deadline.
The government extended ECO4 from 31 March to 31 December 2026 to allow an orderly completion of the scheme. It did not increase the overall delivery targets, so availability can differ between obligated energy suppliers, funders and areas.

What ECO4 is designed to do
ECO4 places obligations on larger energy suppliers to help improve the energy efficiency of eligible homes. Delivery typically follows a whole-house approach, so the measures offered depend on the property assessment rather than a customer simply choosing one product.
The property—not the advert—determines the measures.
Depending on the route, property and assessment, an approved package may include insulation, heating improvements, controls or renewable-energy measures such as solar PV. Solar is not guaranteed simply because a household passes an initial benefits or income check.
Household route
Eligibility may be linked to specified benefits or another approved route. Evidence will be required and current scheme rules apply.
Property route
The home’s existing energy performance, heating, construction and recommended improvements are assessed.
Funding route
An obligated supplier or delivery partner must accept the project and confirm which measures can be funded.
From initial check to approved installation.
Initial check
Basic household, tenure, benefit or income-route and property information is reviewed.
Evidence
Required eligibility documents and permissions are gathered through the relevant delivery route.
Assessment
A competent assessor considers the home and the improvement package required by the scheme.
Approval
Only after funding and measures are confirmed should installation arrangements be finalised.
Could your household qualify before ECO4 closes?
Start with an honest eligibility check. We will explain what information is needed and whether there is a viable route to assessment—without promising funding before approval.
