Part L Building Code Updated 2021

To achieve the target CO2 emissions rate, all new homes will be required to have a renewable energy source. And all new homes in England and Wales must now produce 31% fewer carbon emissions than previously acceptable in the old regulations.

Anyone undertaking any home improvement projects, extensions, renovations, or self-builds will be affected by the changes to the regulations. Every year in England around 180,000 new homes are built and before the Part L regulations it was estimated that only 10% of new builds had PV installed, the updated regulations have been estimated to see the number of PV on new builds rise to around 80%.
