Existing GivEnergy system? We continue to support diagnosis, servicing and repairs where possible, but GivEnergy is not presented here as a current new-install battery option.
Add battery storage without simply abandoning your FIT arrangement
Existing FIT customers can often add battery storage, but the system architecture, generation metering, grid charging and paperwork must be handled correctly.
We review your existing inverter, generation meter, FIT status and proposed battery arrangement before recommending the design.
Request a FIT Battery ReviewWhat we check
Generation meter: existing metering and how eligible generation is recorded.
Battery declaration: your FIT licensee may require a battery-storage declaration.
Grid charging: tariff charging must not be incorrectly recorded as FIT generation.
Documentation: wiring design, DNO requirements and supporting paperwork.
Make more of your solar — and your electricity tariff
Store daytime solar
Save excess generation and use it later rather than importing as much electricity in the evening.
Charge when electricity is cheaper
Suitable systems can use lower-cost off-peak electricity, particularly useful during winter.
Plan for EVs and heat pumps
Battery and inverter sizing can take future electrification and larger household loads into account.
Battery storage installed by a local team
“Mr Solar did a really good job of my PV and Battery system. On completion also provided good support to get things running and understood.”
Vincent Colby“We are five months into our installation and are very impressed with how the system is working for us.”

Questions before you enquire
Can I add a battery to existing solar panels?
Often, yes. We first check the existing inverter, system condition, metering, FIT status and the best AC- or DC-coupled arrangement.
What size battery do I need?
Battery size depends on daily consumption, solar generation, overnight usage, peak loads, tariff and whether you want backup.
Can a battery charge from cheap overnight electricity?
Many modern systems can be scheduled to charge during lower-cost tariff periods where suitable.
Will a battery affect my FIT payments?
A battery can often be retrofitted to a FIT installation, but the metering arrangement and declaration requirements must be reviewed carefully.
Can I have backup during a power cut?
Yes on suitable systems, but backup capability varies. We design around required circuits, property loads, inverter capacity and the selected gateway/EPS arrangement.
