Four Simple Categories
Necessary
Security, consent preferences, shopping basket/session and core website functions that genuinely need to work.
Analytics
Helps us understand how the website is used. We currently recommend keeping this consent-based unless configured to meet the narrow 2026 statistical exception.
Functional / Embedded
Maps, review widgets, calculators, chat tools and other third-party features that are useful but not always essential.
Marketing
Advertising, remarketing, advertising conversion measurement and tracking used for marketing purposes.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Mr Solar Ltd, Company No. 14128954. Our customer contact address is Beacon Innovation Centre, Camelot Road, Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, NR31 7RA.
For more information about how we use personal information generally, please read our Privacy Policy.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small files stored on your browser or device. Similar technologies include scripts, tags, pixels, local storage and other methods that store information on, or access information from, your device.
These technologies can be used for core website functions, security, remembering preferences, analytics, embedded services and advertising.
3. Necessary technologies
Some technologies are needed to provide a service you request or to make essential parts of the site function securely. These do not require consent where a legal exception applies.
Examples may include:
- remembering your cookie-consent choices;
- security and fraud-prevention functions;
- load balancing and essential website/session functions;
- shopping basket and checkout functions where you use the Mr Solar shop;
- technical functions genuinely required to submit a form or complete another action you request.
We do not treat a technology as “necessary” merely because it is convenient to us.
4. Analytics technologies
Analytics can help us understand matters such as page visits, journeys through the site, device/browser types, page performance and which content is useful.
Although UK law now contains a narrow statistical-purpose exception for some genuinely aggregate website analytics, we recommend treating Mr Solar’s analytics as optional unless the configuration has been separately checked to ensure it meets every condition of that exception. This is particularly important where analytics and advertising systems are linked.
If analytics are consent-based, they must remain blocked until you choose to allow the Analytics category.
5. Functional and embedded services
Some pages may use third-party services that add useful functionality. Depending on the current website configuration, this can include:
- Google Maps or other map services;
- Trustpilot, Trustindex or other customer-review widgets;
- Solar Wizard or other solar/energy calculators;
- chat or AI-assisted customer-support tools;
- embedded media or other interactive third-party content.
Where these services store or access information on your device and no legal exception applies, they should not load until you choose to allow the relevant category.
Where a third-party feature is blocked, the page may show a placeholder or may ask you to enable the relevant category before the feature can be used.
6. Marketing and advertising technologies
Marketing technologies may be used to measure advertising, understand whether an advert led to an enquiry or sale, build audiences, perform remarketing or personalise advertising.
Marketing and advertising storage/access technologies are not treated as necessary and are only enabled after the appropriate consent.
This category can include Google Ads, advertising conversion tags, remarketing tags and similar services where they are enabled on the site.
7. Anti-spam and security services
Some forms may use an anti-spam or fraud-prevention service such as reCAPTCHA or an equivalent. Where such a service is genuinely required to secure the specific form or service you request, it may be treated as necessary for that function. It should not be loaded site-wide merely for convenience.
Third-party security providers may process technical information under their own privacy terms.
8. Current website technology categories
The exact cookies and technologies can change when the website, plugins or third-party services are updated. The consent-management platform should maintain the live cookie inventory. The following table explains the categories we expect to use.
| Category | Typical Mr Solar uses | Default | Typical providers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Consent preference, site security, session/shop functions, requested-form security where genuinely required. | Active | WordPress, WooCommerce, security/consent services. |
| Analytics | Website traffic, page performance and usage measurement. | Blocked until allowed unless separately configured for a lawful exception. | Google Analytics and related analytics tools where enabled. |
| Functional / Embedded | Maps, reviews, calculators, chat/AI and interactive third-party content. | Blocked until allowed where consent is required. | Google Maps, Trustpilot/Trustindex, Solar Wizard and other enabled services. |
| Marketing | Advertising conversion measurement, audience building, remarketing and ad tracking. | Blocked until allowed. | Google Ads and other advertising platforms where enabled. |
9. Your cookie choices
When the consent banner is shown, you should be able to choose between accepting all optional technologies, rejecting non-essential technologies or managing individual categories.
Accept all
Allows all currently offered categories, including optional analytics, functional/embedded and marketing technologies.
Reject non-essential
Keeps only technologies that genuinely qualify as necessary or otherwise exempt.
Manage choices
Lets you choose individual categories rather than being forced into an all-or-nothing decision.
10. Changing or withdrawing your choice
You should be able to revisit your choices at any time using the Cookie Settings link or preference icon displayed on the website. Withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it.
You can also delete cookies using your browser settings, although doing so may remove saved preferences and may cause the consent banner to appear again.
11. How long your choice is remembered
We keep consent preferences for a reasonable period and ask again where appropriate. We may ask for fresh consent sooner if we materially change the purposes, categories or third parties involved.
12. Third-party privacy information
Third-party services may process information under their own privacy notices. Where applicable, the consent manager’s cookie inventory should identify the provider and purpose so that you can make an informed choice before the technology is enabled.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when website technology, suppliers or legal requirements change. The date shown at the top indicates when this page was last updated.
